Job Description
The Early Learning Centre Cook is responsible for the provision of the daily meals and snacks for the children who attend our Early Learning Centres.
Responsibilities:
Carrying out the preparation of food for the children in the Centre
Supporting the health and wellbeing of the children through the planning and preparation of nutritious meals and snacks
Ordering and purchasing supplies in consultation with the Director
Working as part of a team to create a safe, caring and educational place for children
Build and maintain professional, inclusive and positive relationships with families of the Centre.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent with a unit of completion in Menu Planning
Current Work with Children Check
First Aid/CPR/Anaphylaxis Certification
Experience
A minimum of 6 months’ experience in an approved early years education and care service is desirable
Previous experience in nutrition and dietary requirements of children
Understanding and ability to accommodate both cultural and medical dietary requirements
Previous experience working within an early education setting
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the delivery of a genuinely caring, safe and inclusive environment for children
Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative to ensure all tasks are completed effectively at a high level including a high level of problem solving
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to establish priorities, manage workloads and identify when to reschedule and reorganize work to reflect changes in priority.
Ability to work within and meet budgets whilst ensuring quality outcomes/meals that meet nutrition requirements
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Adaptability and flexibility, including the preparedness and willingness to provide support to other Centres as required
