Ambrose® is a not-for-profit social enterprise providing Early Years Learning and School Age Care services. With a team of 550 employees and growing, we currently operate over 50 school age care and early years education services across Catholic schools in the Greater Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains region.

Job Description

The Teacher provides active leadership to Educators in the development, implementation and evaluation of a child focused education and care curriculum ensuring the curriculum is consistent with the service philosophy and according to the requirements of the National Quality Framework. The Teacher contributes to the management of and supports the professional learning of staff. As a Teacher, you are expected to be an active team member of a team which provides high quality early childhood education and care to children. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Developing strong relationships with children at the Service
  • Developing strong relationships that support and partner with families and the community
  • Implementing the policies and associated procedures of the organisation at all times and
  • Working with other staff towards continuous improvement in all areas of the Service’s operations.

Role Requirements Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent Teaching qualification
  • ACECQA recognised University Degree in Early Childhood Behavioural
  • Build collaborative relationships with all team members across EYEC based on the Values of respect, encouragement and care
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Engage in professional conversations with other educators to enhance knowledge and practice
  • Engage in professional conversations with other professionals as is appropriate and with the knowledge of the Educational Leader or Nominated Supervisor.
  • Engage in professional conversations and positive mentoring relationships of visiting students, trainees, volunteers and other staff
  • Collaborate with community resources, therapists and networking committees to promote the best outcomes for children, families and the early years’ education and care community.
  • Acknowledge and support personal strengths, professional experience and team diversity.
  • Actively support the organisation’s philosophy, policies and procedures and positively represent the organisation to external contacts at all opportunities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Commitment to developing and creative inclusive environments

Knowledge

  • Experience in an approved education and care service and as a responsible person is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards
  • Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Early Childhood Australia Code of ethics to apply these to personal practices and goals.
  • Thorough knowledge of child and brain development theory
  • Understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010
  • Understanding of the Education and Care Services Regulations 2011

Capability

  • Understanding and willingness to take on the role of Responsible Person when required
  • Understanding and willingness to take on the role of Nominated Supervisor if required
  • Ability to interact with children and families in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum, supporting curriculum development and documenting children’s learning and development.
  • Experience in planning and programming for individual children and groups using emergent curriculum
  • Ability to relate effectively with children and their families
  • Ability to maintain and explain the importance of confidentiality requirements in order to coach others
  • Adaptability and flexibility, including the preparedness and willingness to work at different Early Years Education and Care services if required.
