Job Description

The CELC Educational leader works in partnership with the CELC Director to plan and implement a play-based pedagogy that provides children with opportunity to develop an awareness of their identity and build positive respectful relationships within their community and broadens their understanding of their world.

  • Collaborate with CELC team members, providing curriculum direction and guidance to meet the needs of the children, families, and wider community. This will include embedding the philosophy throughout the educational program daily, including in routines, transitions, interactions, experiences and play explorations.
  • Support CELC team members in their understanding and application of developmental and learning theories, research and applying innovative practices. As well as guiding educators to effectively implement the cycle of planning to enhance programs and practices
  • Lead the development and implementation of an effective educational program in the CELC which supports the CELC philosophy, the principles of Respect, Encourage and Care and the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Support the building of a professional culture of collaboration and inquiry through critical reflection to build the knowledge, skills, and professionalism of educators, reflecting on practice and generating new ideas.
  • Working in partnership with the Director, the Educational leader will develop and strengthen connections between the CELC and the wider community. This includes working with diverse cultures CELC Educational Leader Cook Position Title: CELC Educational Leader Responsible to: Director, Early Learning Centre Qualifications: Bachelor of Early Childhood or Diploma-level early childhood qualification (as approved by ACECQA) Other Requirements: Current Work with Children Check Current Working Rights Police check Award: Children’s Services Award or Educational Services Teachers Award ROLE DESCRIPTION EARLY YEARS EDUCATION AND CARE Private & Confidential 2 and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Elders or their representatives, schools, networking with other CELCs and educational leaders, allied health professionals, early intervention agencies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continual learning by participating in professional development and engaging in critical reflection of practice.
  • Mentor and support educators’ understanding of educational program and practice, such as: how theory supports best practice in all parts of the program; intentional teaching strategies and inclusive practices; pedagogical documentation.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement by supporting the CELC Director to prepare documentation for the National Quality Standards, such as the Quality Improvement Plan /SelfAssessment template

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor of Early Childhood or Diploma-level early childhood qualification (as approved by ACECQA) or Diplomalevel early childhood qualification (as approved by ACECQA)

Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of theory relating to childhood education and care, professional standards and approved learning frameworks, and contemporary understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning
  • Commitment to learning and to participate in professional development
  • Leadership skills
